Abstract
This paper presents an analytical model and the performance study of IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function (DCF) for the nonsaturated heterogeneous traffic. In this paper, we modify the Bianchipsilas Markov chain model for the nonsaturated environment and analyze the throughput under several conditions and several set of parameters, with the aim of obtaining the accurate throughput when stations are nonsaturated. In this paper, we explore the discrete Markov chain model with the post backoff. The analytical nonsaturated throughput for the heterogeneous traffic is validated against the ns-2 simulation results.
