Abstract
Eddy losses in cooling configuration play an important role on the safe operation of conduction-cooled high temperature superconducting magnet. To investigate the relationship between eddy loss and the cooling configuration, the magnet is modeled with four pancakes. The eddy loss of cooling configuration is analyzed by finite element method and an improved configuration of cooling plate is described. Based on the analysis, eddy losses of 35 kJ HTS magnet in dynamic stability experiment are computed. The improved method is presented to reduce the eddy loss.
