Abstract
The paper presents a complete mathematical analysis of a sinusoidal BLDC motor commutation. The motor is supplied from a DC source via a 6-leg inverter using the 120degON operation. The commutation period of 60 electrical degrees is divided into two sub-periods, for which the corresponding differential equations are solved using the initial and final conditions. The obtained model is simple to apply; it is verified using a measurement on a small sinusoidal BLDC motor.
