  • Abstract
As a new energy transmission device, dual rotor four-quadrant transmission (4QT) simplifies power-train structure of electrical variable transmission (EVT) and makes internal combustion engine (ICE) operate in high efficiency region. Reduction of fuel consumption and the improvement of vehicle performance are achieved as well. In this paper, different operation modes of EVT are analyzed based on the discussion of torque and power characteristics of 4QT, corresponding to actual requirements of vehicles, specific parameters of 4QT are proposed, 4QT prototype machine were measured and calculated with the Finite-Element Analyze (FEA). By use of engine and load simulation test platform, the function and performance of 4QT are tested. Prototype test data shows that design of 4QT is viable and rational.
