Abstract
Based on the analysis of the magnetic field, a new simplified radial force analytical model for switched reluctance motors is established in this paper, in which saturation and fringing flux are considered. Moreover, the radial force is predicted by using FEM, and the model is validated by its predictions against those of the finite element method (FEM). Furthermore, the relationships between the radial force and eccentric, rotor position and currents are given which is influenced by the magnetic saturation. The results shows that the radial force decreases with the increasing of current for saturation and it approaches zero when the field of opposite direction also saturation. Finally, a remedial strategy by using pole-currents independently controlled is proposed, which can make the total radial force on the rotor decrease be zero in theory.
