Abstract
Active power filter (APF) is one of the most effective solutions to compensate the current harmonics and to enhance the power quality in industrial application. Control is one of the key elements to their performance. This paper proposes a generalized control approach for APF, which provides a systematical way not only to analysis the regular control schemes but also develop new control schemes. Based on the simplified model of power stage, the development of generalized control is illustrated. With properly designed gains of detected currents, different control aims and compensation objectives can be achieved. Regular control scheme is reviewed and several new practical implementations of the generalized control approach are illustrated in detail. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the approach and analysis
