Abstract
Bufferized production lines can be viewed as discrete event dynamical systems, whose states evolve according to the occurrence of distinct expected or random events. This approach allows the definition of a dynamical aggregate model in terms of nonlinear differential equations, which reveals to be a powerful analytic tool to evaluate production line efficiency v.s. a sufficient set of design parameters.
