Abstract :
Lateral web dynamics is an important part of web precessing lines and presents unique problems in modeling, identification and control. In this paper stochastic aspects of lateral web dynamics are discussed. A new stochastic model is introduced, which represents non-ideal webs and disturbances at the entering span roll, based on experimental data. The new model is used in simulation studies to pinpoint problems in identification and control of non-ideal webs.
