Abstract
We describe the design of an l∞-optimal linear control system with integrated control and diagnostic modules. It is shown that the solution to the design problem can be set up as & linear programming problem. The paper provides an l∞. framework to delineate the tradeoffs that govern the integrated control and diagnostic objectives. The effect of modeling errors is incorporated in the construction of alarm thresholds.
