Abstract
This paper develops a semi-active dry friction damper for automotive suspension. The normal force to the frictional interface is controlled via a feedback of the relative velocity between the sprung and unsprung masses. It is seen that good damping and shock isolation are achieved with relatively low bandwidth controllers. Numerical simulations are included that demonstrate the damper´s effectiveness.
