Abstract :
The paper discusses how the Combined Simulation and Perturbation Analysis (CSPA) algorithm can be applied to object oriented models. Object CSPA implements perturbation analysis (PA) techniques in an object oriented class hierarchy to generate system performance information. Recall that PA techniques use behavior generated from a previous system (the nominal system) to generate behavior about a new system (the perturbed system). CSPA enabled us to generate behavior not observable in the nominal system by judiciously simulating the perturbed system when needed. By creating a system model that is partitioned into objects, we also partition the state and event spaces. This partitioning allows us to isolate perturbed states and events within objects. The perturbed objects are always simulated and other objects in the model execute a modified version CSPA. We call this modified form of CSPA Object CSPA (OCSPA). Several advantages are expected from using this new scheme. The OCSPA algorithm and its contribution is discussed. An example with results will be presented.
