  • Abstract
With the advent of future convergent systems consisting of an integration of different heterogeneous mobile and fixed technologies, the interconnection of mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) to infrastructured IP networks (Integrated MANET) is becoming of paramount importance. Integrating MANET with infrastructured IP networks, such as the Internet, can improve communication in mobile ad hoc networks, as well as enrich their users with multimedia applications through the realization of session set up and management protocol functionality. Two approaches of the deployment of session initiation protocol (SIP) in integrated MANET viz. centralized and quasi-decentralized approaches are presented in this paper. We have described the architecture of both approaches and evaluated its performance.
