Abstract :
Future satellite communication will put a strong demand on the use of high frequencies. In such case the satellite signal will be more susceptible to small scale properties of the atmosphere it is passing through. To understand and predict this impact long term experiments are needed. This paper describes the state-of-the-art of ground based remote sensing of clouds. The work is based on experiments at the Dutch multi-instrumental CESAR research site for atmospheric processes.
