Abstract
A method is presented which allows a wire curl antenna designed to be accurately scaled within the 1-20 GHz frequency range. The method is implemented such that for winding angles in the range 0.18-0.26 mm/rad geometrical dimensions that yield axial ratio <1 dB can be found within a restricted single parameter search space by varying the length of a 1.16 lambda curl by only plusmn 0.044 lambda. For validation, experimental comparison is made between two antennas, one at 2.4 GHz and the other at 11.85 GHz, scaled according to the method proposed.
