Abstract
This paper presents a novel design of an equilateral triangular patch antenna providing two diverse patterns at nearly the same resonance frequency (fRes ap 5.4 GHz), which result from the excitation of two different eigenmodes by switching two diodes ON or OFF. In this design just a single feed point is needed for both excitations and no additional DC network is necessary. The concept is validated by farfield measurements and is well suited for diversity systems in wireless communications.
