  • Abstract
An estimation model for the rugged-terrain directsolar radiation (DSR) is derived basing on the mechanism responsible for the DSR on hillside. With the fine-scale topographic data and the radiation observation, this model can provide the detailed distribution of monthly DSR over the complex terrain of Chongqing city. Such fine-scale data are conducive to the utilization of solar radiation. The results also suggest that the terrain´s influence on DSR is evident especially during the winter season. And the slope ratio and its facing orientation are the two major factors determining the DSR locally.
