  • Abstract
Research-oriented learning is a distinct student-centered learning style, with characteristics of self-determination, exploring, open and active practice, compared with the teacher-centered inculcation mode. It is a process of presenting questions, making research plan, choosing methodology, and interactive discussion to solve the problem by cooperation of students and teachers.By analyzing the current ICT application of a specific Chinese university and the research leaning demands, this paper presents a research-oriented e-learning system that could serve as a general model for Chinese university situation. This system comprises four layers, which are the access layer, the application layer, the service layer and the network layer. It is student-centered, Web based, and multiple accessed, thus enable students to propose questions, access study resources, search literatures, cooperate to accomplish projects, online discuss and explore results in a convenient and independent way.
