  • Abstract
    To solve the serious problem of hard deployment and high power waste in existing roadside parking system of intelligent transportation system (ITS), a smart roadside parking management system based on sensor networks is presented in this paper. Every node in sensor networks is small and low-power and it can identify parking space automatically by sensing the disturbances in the Earth´s magnetic field. To further reduce power waste, nodes can sleep periodically. The node can be waked up by internal microcontroller to collect parking lot information and communicates with other sensor nodes. The system consists of the infrastructure of intelligent transportation system and experiment data shows that it can deal with the existing problems efficiently.
