  • Abstract
Rail transport is a highly energy efficient transport mode. Nevertheless the sector decided to reduce supplementary their specific CO2-emissions with 20% by 2020. To be able to measure the results of such programs started up to reduce the emissions and the energy consumption, it is necessary to know what each end customer has consumed. So it is also needed to know the energy consumption of trains. The measured data shall also be used to invoice correctly the consumption of trains. This paper explains how energy measuring systems are introduced on board of trains, how these meters are read out and how the data is settled on the ground.
