Abstract
With networks becoming increasingly pervasive, new generation applications will have to deal with advanced non-functional properties such as context-awareness, openness, and mobility. These applications present some challenging problems to middleware designers. In this paper; we firstly attempt to identify the key characteristics of todaypsilas networking environments. Subsequently, we look deeper into some key issues that next generation middleware needs to cope with. Also, details of some real solutions are showed as well. Finally, we present the future directions of research and conclude this paper.
