Abstract
In the last few years, WiMAX has emerged as one of the most promising technologies for the next generation wireless communications. The work presented herein aims at providing a comparative analysis on the downlink performance of partial and full usage of subchannels under different frequency reuse schemes, including both integer and fractional frequency reuse factors. A 2-tier (19 cells) WiMAX network has been simulated and a wide variety of performance metrics has been extracted for different deployment scenarios. The results that this work concludes to, prove that the employment of fractional frequency reuse can provide the network with a significant performance gain in comparison with usual integer frequency reuse solutions.
