Abstract
A crest factor reduction (CFR) method suitable for down-link LTE waveforms is proposed. It exploits characteristics of the LTE format to transmit low peak-to-average power ratio waveforms that can be demodulated without increasing the error vector magnitude. The CFR method is a variation of the partial transmit sequence (PTS) technique where phase shifts are applied to resource blocks during modulation. The resource blocks are equalized independently during demodulation eliminating the requirement to transmit side information associated with the phase shift vector. A new PTS algorithm is also presented that can be applied efficiently when the number of resource blocks is large.
