Abstract
High voltage compact devices of energy compression of sub-nanosecond time range were developed and tested. The devices consist of high-impedance (HL) and forming (FL) lines, which operate in the traveling wave mode. High-pressure gas dischargers were used as the switches. In contrast to previous units the FL with impedance, which is not equal to initial generator impedance and with lower value was used in the new devices to increase an output voltage. In an experiment the devices allowed to convert pulse with amplitude -145 kV across 45 Ohm load with 4 ns duration and 1.5 ns rise time to nanosecond pulse with voltage amplitude up to -243 kV. Rise time of the pulses amounted 0.2-0.5 ns under pulse duration ~ 0.7 ns. Peak power was increased in 2.8 times. The devices were tested in the batch mode at 500 pulses in packet with repetition rate up to 100 pps.
