Abstract
The aim of the study was to examine the psychometric properties and the gender differences and grade differences of Emotion Regulation Questionnaire in the sample more than 3000 Chinese adolescents (aged 10-20 years). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses provide evidence for steady two-dimension structure reflecting the initial construct: cognitive reappraisal and suppression. Significant differences were found with respect to gender and grade. Female students use more cognitive reappraisal strategy and less suppression strategy. And with higher grade students use less cognitive reappraisal and less suppression strategies. The findings show that the ERQ is a good tool for Chinese adolescents for future research.
