Abstract
The diversity plays an important role in gene expression programming(GEP). However, the reduplicate individuals in the populations decrease the diversity, which will impact the performance of the evolution. To cope with this problem, this paper proposes a novel GEP WithOut Reduplicate Individuals called GEPWORI. The main contributions of this paper include: (1) presenting the phenomenon of reduplicate individuals in GEP and analyzing its impact on evolution, (2) proposing a novel algorithm (GEPWORI) which avoids reduplicate individuals in the populations, and (3) by extensive experiments showing that the performance of the GEPWORI is better than that of the existing Traditional GEP (TGEP).
