Abstract
In this research, a new algorithm is introduced to improve a typical tire mold design into a ventless one. Tire companies have been utilizing vulcanization in the manufacturing procedure for decades; however during vulcanization, air escapes through vent holes and shapes the undesirable rubber burrs simultaneously. Tire companies spend labor force not only to shave rubber burrs but also to remove the rubber that stuck inside vent holes; the latter is even more excruciating. To discard the disadvantages of vent holes, the proposed algorithm calculates cutting lines which enable the tire mold to form open area, allowing air to release efficiently. The experiment successfully shows the air exhausts from cutting lines. As a result, the tire mold is unnecessary to make vent holes based on this theory.
