Abstract
With the rapid growth of next generation optical network, in order to meet this demand to the rising routing technology, IETF Path Computation Element (PCE) Working Group defines the MPLS/GMPLS network structure based on PCE, PCE technology has gradually become the key technology of the next generation optical network because of its independent and flexible architecture, especially in the GMPLS-based control of wavelength switched optical networks (WSON). WSON major subsystems, WSON signal, and optical impairments are introduced systematically firstly. And then expound the WSON routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) computational model. The PCE application in WSON routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) information models and are discussed finally, and the PCE technique combines with impairment validation is indicated to be the primary choice of routing architecture in next generation optical networks.
