Abstract
One of the greatest concerns for urban residents has been the reliability of transit system and hence, studies undertaken in this regard is of great importance to upgrading the level of service of public transportation systems. In view of the characteristics of urban transit system, this paper analyzes the major factors affecting the reliability of urban transit system. With the purpose of conducting a comprehensive evaluation on the reliability of urban transit system, the paper puts forward an index system consisting of five indices, namely connectivity reliability, travel time reliability, capacity reliability, direct reliability and waiting time reliability on the basis of existing research. Moreover, it proposes the adoption of Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation Method to be applied in the reliability evaluation of the urban transit system. This paper is concluded by analysis of the insufficiencies of the research and by examining the orientation of efforts in further studies.
