Automation of EMC tests — Software development and system integration approach

SAMEER-Centre for Electromagnetics, Chennai has recently augmented with the 10 metre ferrite tiled unechoic EMC test facility for CE marking. This paper describes the effort towards development of Automation software for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing and implementation of the semi-automated EMC set up for all the tests. Generally EMC tests are carried out manually or in semi-automated mode. It is also possible that some or most of the tests can be fully automated. There are few companies world wide, having developed software for EMC test automation and used for testing. The software called ¿EMITest¿ has been developed in house for Conducted and Radiated Susceptibility testing as per IEC 61000-4-6 and IEC 61000-4-3 and the details are presented in this paper.
