Abstract
Using a transmission loop, we show the maximum number of cascaded conventional- EDFAs is gain-transient limited for packet transmission and demonstrate error-free, noise limited packet transmission across 44 transient-suppressed EDFA´s without active gain-transient control or regeneration.
