Abstract :
State of the art Power technologies, integrating Power Mosfets, Bipolar, CMOS components as well as non volatile memory cells, represent last breakthrough in the Smart Power technical area and allow levels of integration never reached before. Since rechargeable batteries like nickel cadmium (NiCd) and nickel metal hydride (NiMH), are becoming very popular and portability often required in many electronic products, compact battery chargers are more and more needed. In the following a Single Chip integrating PWM (up to 2A) current control loop together with an 8 bit microcontroller is described.
