  • Abstract
This paper proposes a new mechanism, multi-connection from heterogeneous networks in IP multimedia subsystem (IMS). With the appearance of IMS, multimedia service has become an important service, which needs high bandwidth and low delay. But the network, which can match these features simultaneously, doesn´t exist. In order to provide robust, high-quality services in IMS, we utilize the character that IMS support the accesses from heterogeneous networks and introduces a multi-connection mechanism that can establish multiple connections simultaneously, and transfer the data in parallel. Then it will describe two different multi-connection solutions and the respective key procedures and an algorithm about how to select the available network. Finally, we list the advantages and disadvantages of the two solutions.
