Abstract :
In this paper, the fundamentals and methods of remote sensing in monitoring atmospheric water vapor based on global positioning system (GPS) are introduced. Using GAMIT_Ref_10.3 software and GPS data every 60s from the ground - based GPS networks in Inner Mongolia of north China, we have calculated the tropospheric delay and obtained the wet zenith delays over the station. Following the discussed relation between wet zenith delay parameters and precipitable water vapor, we have calculated the precipitable water vapor over the area. By remote sensing water vapor based on processing GPS Satellite Signal, we can access to water vapor data with high spatial and temporal resolution and mm accuracy, to fill in the lack of spatial resolution in sounding data and provide fast-changing information, which has a good application prospects for improving the accuracy of numerical prediction models and forecast.
