Abstract
Two antennas are developed in this paper which could be included in a multi gigabit demonstrator with Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities. The antennas are suitable for two applications operating in the 60GHz band: Kiosk downloading and Wireless High-Definition Multimedia Interface (wHDMI). The first antenna is a moderate gain fixed beam antenna. The second antenna is a switched beam antenna, where a main beam can be pointed to 4 different directions in one plane. This is achieved by using a Rotman lens. The antennas are implemented in low cost microstrip technology using commercially available components. Measured gain of both antennas is reasonable for such systems. Measurements of radiation patterns are presented, showing very good agreement with simulations carried out with a 3D commercial electromagnetic simulator.
