Verification of a large broadband electronically scanned array aperture

Two very large, broadband antenna apertures have been designed, manufactured and tested. The first is a single polarized antenna with tapered notch elements. The second antenna is dual polarized with similar elements as the first one. Both antennas have been designed for 2–18 GHz operation. Measurements of both S-parameters and embedded element patterns have been performed and superposed to active reflection coefficient and full array radiation pattern. Results for the single polarized antenna are presented. The antenna shows excellent reflection coefficient and sidelobe performance.
