Abstract
This paper describes measurement results of fading characteristics in a fixed radio link in the frequency band of 4 to 6 GHz for a period of two years. In order to study the dependency of propagation path categories, the measurements were carried out on various propagation paths in Japan, i.e., mountain, coastal, and sea links. The measurement results represent the fade duration characteristics for each propagation path category. Based on these results, we clarify the relationship between the occurrence factor of multipath fading and some parameters of the fade duration distribution, and propose a new method for estimating the outage intensity due to multipath fading.
