Abstract
This paper presents a passive UHF tag configuration for suitcase security and tracking in airport luggage operation. The proposed solution is based on conformal geometry tag, consisting of a folded dipole with orthogonal arms, appropriate for integration into the wall of injection moulded suitcases during its fabrication process. The ALIEN Higgs-2 integrated circuit is used. Simulated frequency dependence of the proposed UHF passive tag is presented and maximum detection range was measured in free space and within the suitcase in several test environments. The experimental results are compared with a commercial tag and demonstrate good agreement with predictions.
