Abstract
The paper deals with review of hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) for light vehicle, brief history of making and development. Also there is analysis existed HEV and its manufacturers. The classification of HEV is presented. HEV of three main types are considered. For each of types a principle of operation, main advantages and disadvantages, and their schematics and describing of main parts of it are considered. This paper consists of analysis of combined operating of internal combustion engine (ICE) and electrical motor for different types of HEV, and their functions in HEV. Typical driving cycles, its differences and specific character of engines (ICE and electric motor) are considered.
