Abstract :
This study used social network analysis (SNA) to examine the way students interacted with one another in two online classes that had different designs for discussions. The results suggested that the degree of interactivity among individual students did not improve when the instructor withdrew from the discussions and required students to respond to their classmates´ postings. Implications of the study were also discussed.
