The purpose of the present study was to develop a scale that can be used to measure the Chinese high school students´ self-directed learning. Exploratory factor analysis provided initial evidence for the single-factor structure of our 6-item scale. Further reliability analysis and confirmatory factor analysis showed that both the reliability and construct validity of our scale were excellent. In sum, the present study provided a useful tool for teachers and researchers to measure the Chinese high school students´ self-directed learning.
