Abstract
Motivation is a very important factor for elementary school students in learning. Using computer games is one of the very effective ways to increase students´ learning motivation. However, students might focus on gaming activities so much that they ignore the main domain knowledge. This study mainly explored the effect of game based learning (GBL) on motivation and reasoning ability of elementary students. The results show that children get high motivation but not reasoning in GBL. Several suggestions are proposed for the future instructional design in GBL.
