Abstract :
IS-IS (Intermediate System to Intermediate System) routing protocol uses a simple metric system, which in most cases has to be adapted to specific conditions. This paper presents requirements and a proposed solution for RoEduNet2 IS-IS routing engineering, in order to achieve a good traffic distribution in the network structure. A formula to calculate the IS-IS metric is presented, considering several parameters that can influence network performances and traffic distribution like circuit length, bandwidth, MTU, circuit availability.
