Abstract
To estimate position of air targe the three coordinates are needed: azimuth, range and elevation. The target range and azimuth coordinates errors can be estimated quite precisely. One of source of elevation estimation errors is the refraction of atmosphere (changes of altitude follow changes of refraction index). In results of refraction the false elevation coordinates are obtained. In the paper problem of target elevation estimation using different refraction profiles and usefulness of refraction profiles for medium and long range radar systems, will be also discussed
