Abstract
Particle system has become the attention and research hotspot, it has simple operation and real-time displays features when it is used to express natural scenery. The characteristics of flame are analyzed, we introduce a flame lifecycle model based on particle system, including flame generation, the flame spread movement with wind and no wind, as well as flame extinction. This experiment is carried out in Java 3D environments, using quadrilateral facets and texture mapping to enhance the flame realism. So the results can reflect the flame dynamic changes vividly, and have achieved the effect of flame interaction with the environment. This model has practical application value in the forest fire simulation.
