Abstract :
The Northeast shelterbelt project is a part of the Shelter Forest System Program in Three-North Regions of China. By far, the third phase project has been completed, and the fourth phase project is on the point of completion. This paper chose the Yushu, Nong´an, Dehui and Fuyu in midwestern Jilin province as the research areas, selected three phase shelterbelt data and land use data at Sep. 25, 1988, Jun. 12, 2002 and Jun. 14, 2008, in accordance with the suitable landscape index, analyzed the quantity, formed condition, distribution evenness of the shelterbelt in recent 30 years. The results showed that the shelterbelts are getting better in these years, the construction of the shelterbelt project yielded notable effect, but there are still some questions, such as the missing trees, and less number of belts. Integrating GIS technique and remote sensing with landscape ecology theory, to analysis the shelterbelts´ landscape change is an effective means, it can help us to better understand the changing process and status quo of the shelterbelt, and provide the scientific basis for managing the shelterbelt more profitably.
