Abstract
In this paper, we describe a Web-based image viewer for agricultural high-definition monitoring. In cultivation of crops, physiological data and environmental data are important for increase in crop yields. However, it is difficult for farmers to collect such data day after day. We developed a monitoring system to automatically collect high-definition crop images and a specialized Web-based image viewer for such images. Users can easily observe detailed crop images through the Internet and easily find the differences among the images. We experimentally installed the developed monitoring system in an apple farm and observed apple status. The system has been operating since August 11, 2009. We confirmed the ability of the monitoring system and were able to perform detailed observation in which the progress of a disease on an apple was traced.
