  • Abstract
This paper proposes a position and orientation sensor for a "wireless, battery-less, and location-aware" ubiquitous environment. A wireless and battery-less environment has been already achieved by Two-Dimensional Communication (2DC) technology. The technology uses a Two-Dimensional Signal Transmission (2DST) sheet for wireless communication and power transmission. On the sheet, nodes can communication with each other and acquire electricity anywhere on the sheet without any direct electrical connection to it. Microwaves transmit power and data through the sheet. The paper introduces a positioning function in the 2DC network. Applications are ranging from sensor networks to Human-Computer Interface. We have proposed a node localization system in the 2DC network. In this paper, we report a prototyping and an error evaluation of our position and orientation sensor.
