Abstract :
Recognition of machining features from the solid model of product is the foundation of process planning, manufacturability evaluation and other downstream activities. In this paper, the method of feature recognition from the STEP file is studied. On the basis of analyzing the grammar characteristic, geometric and topological information in STEP file, the lexical analyzer is designed by using the object-oriented method and the related information of features is extracted from the STEP file. The extracted information is converted into AAG and the neural network is used to recognize the features. The implementation of the proposed method shows that method can recognize the machining features from the STEP file effectively.
