Abstract
A wireless and low-power sensor nodes for environmental monitoring in coal mines which based on ZigBee technology was introduced in this paper, it was designed and implemented by using TI CC2530 chip. It transmits data wirelessly and has dual power supply mode. Because of the energy-saving design, the node can run more than 20 hours under battery power. The multi-sensor in one node can capture a variety of environmental data, including the mine temperature, humidity and gas concentration, and environmental parameters control operation of the fan. The overall architecture of the system, detailed hardware design and schematics, and process of the system software were also described in this paper. Test results showed that the node properties could meet the design requirements.
