Abstract
This paper presents a simply but effective solution of measuring the solar heat gain in the solar collector systems. The estimation approach is based on the proportional relationship between effective solar heat gain power and water heating rate under the normal operation conditions. In addition, the measurement data shows that solar heat gain decays with the increasing of desired water temperature. The result of this paper can be used to choose the minimal desired water temperature in the intelligent control design, which can improve the efficiency of sunlight-heat energy conversion in solar collector systems.
